WO: Weekly Obsessions
For some reason, my brain fast-forwarded this week right past Wednesday and believed today was Thursday until about 10 minutes ago. So mea culpa, my friends, and here’s the quickest WO you’ll probably ever see.
Sunday’s shooting in Texas had me all kinds of upset, naturally; and news of a family friend’s illness worsening put me in a funk as well.
With all the shitty shit shit going on, it’s easy to lose sight of the positive things, no matter how small they may seem in the moment.
This week, I’m especially grateful for the technology that connects me to loved ones 3,000 miles away. For the music I get to enjoy during one of my easiest commutes ever — plus I get a whole week without a work trip! I’m glad it’s currently raining, as we need it desperately. And I’m blessed for the friends who’ve become family here, who comfort and guide me during my darkest days.
While it’s cliche to discuss gratitude this time of year, I have to look for the positive among all the tragedy. I imagine a world where tomorrow and the days ahead bring much more light than darkness.
We have to believe better days are ahead of us. There is always hope. 143
