Giving in to Instagram

I first heard about Instagram in late 2010 and swore I’d never use it. The photo filters seemed so unnecessary, and the few people I knew on it then were completely pretentious about their photo “skills.”

I gave in a few nights ago, thanks in large part to the insistence of my travel companions. I’ve changed my tune a bit and find it much easier to use than other social-media sites.

Documenting the trip will still take forever, but now I can share quick hits prior to my 400+ photo upload:

[Day 1] Taxi ride in downtown Panama City — Revolution Tower

[Day 2] Downtown PC, before the Canal and riding bikes down Amador Causeway

[Day 3] Water taxi dock in Bocas del Toro to Red Frog Beach

[Day 4] Hammock nap on Starfish Beach

[Day 5] Crossing the border into Costa Rica

[Day 6] Our own private spot at Punto Uva Beach, Costa Rica

[Day 7] Driving through the mountains to Boquete, Panama

[Day 8]Hiking through Landau Waterfalls in Boquete

[Day 9] Caldera Hot Springs in Boquete

[Day 10] Baha’i House of Worship in Panama City

Find Wittyburg on Instagram to see more — sometimes giving in can be a good thing.

WO: Weekly Obsessions

This week’s obsessions are brought to you all the way from Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica! With some special help from my fabulous travel buddies, Kaley and Brandi, here are four favorites from the trip so far:

Ceviche de Cerdos: This octopus and white-fish ceviche was our first meal in Panama City, at a small bar and restaurant named Cerdos. We fell in love, natch.

Causeway Bike Rides: A day trip to the Panama City causeway was complete with an hourlong jaunt down the waterside. Gorgeous, to say the least.

Red Frog Beach: The first beach we hit was this one, and it did not disappoint. It was mostly secluded, except for a few visitors … and the native sloths and frogs!

Oreba Chocolate Tour: This small village of 600 people produces tons of chocolate each year. The highlight of our tour was easily the tasting 🙂

Hope everyone stateside is having a wonderful week! We’ve only five days left to soak up as much as possible — ciao!

Camera Roll Call

As you’ve likely guessed, I managed to neglect regular uploads of the last five pictures from my phone. It’s all relative — I started a Facebook album more than a month ago from the Memphis trip, and it’s still missing about 100 pictures. Solid.

So without further ado, here are the five last pictures in my Camera Roll:

“Shart” is an option in Draw Something. I giggled for approximately 10 minutes.

Pups playing at Yappy Hour on Cinco de Mayo, to benefit Kids and Canines!

Contextual advertising at its best: Thanks for the diabetes, Wendy’s!

Planning for Panama and Costa Rica — (all new) 3 pairs of shorts,
3 Dry Fit tops, a windbreaker and cross-body bag. Holy break my bank.

Celebrating a co-worker’s birthday with fancy wines and festive cookies.

For my next trick, I will attempt to upload the Memphis pictures to Facebook before Christmas. Ta-da!
