WO: Weekly Obsessions

Last week’s celebrations left me exhausted. With a full heart, no doubt — but I was pooped. Good thing I got home late Monday (after 10 hours of traveling, but more on that later) and had another baby shower invite waiting for me! The joys of being a 20-something …

  1. Lime Fresh Mexican Grill: We lunched at this new spot in Tampa before I departed for the big city again. Quick, inexpensive and totally delicious — my kinda Mexican fiesta.
  2. Clear Care: Many hours in airports mean many hours cursing my contacts. Thankfully, this stuff is a Godsend. Just make sure you follow all instructions: Lenses must soak at least six hours and you DO NOT put this stuff directly in your eyes, like a traditional solution.
  3. Golden Girls Cross-Stitch: My super-talented friend Faren posted a photo of her handmade artwork and naturally, I couldn’t resist. I’m trying to convince her to open an etsy shop but till then, you can just admire the one I bought!
  4. Baby Laughing at Ripping Paper: It’s only fair I share this hilarious video Sister-in-Law showed me. Belly laughs from a baby? Over ripped paper? Too cute for words.

WO: Weekly Obsessions

In addition to it being Halloween (and a top-three holiday in my book), it’s also my 70th WO post — I’m ready to paaaar-taaaay!

So … Happy Halloween, y’all. I can say that because, as you see, I dressed as America’s favorite mush-mouthed Toddler & Tiara. Sadly, I couldn’t find anyone who’d come with me as The Human Thumb (Mama June), but I did find enough go-go juice to keep me hopped up on sugar for hours.

And now for a Halloween-inspired week of obsessions:

  1. TMNT Carving: Forget the pumpkins this year and carve watermelons, instead. These enviable renditions of Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo and Raphael will make any home a happy one.
  2. Frosted Candy Bar Stuffed Cookie Cups: Take those leftover fun-size candy bars (assuming they’ve survived) and bake up some gooey goodies. Think I’m the devil for sharing these? At least I didn’t send you here.
  3. Throwback Costumes: Little kids won’t know any different whether they’re a ladybug or something more creative, so why not dress them up like a Golden Girl or the “Dumb & Dumber” guys?
  4. “Monster Mash”: Because it’s the quintessential Halloween song and I said so.

Happy Haunting — y’all better redneckognize!

WO: Weekly Obsessions

I’d like to say the week has improved drastically since my Murphy’s Law Monday, but I’m a terrible liar. To keep my head from spinning off “Exorcist” style, here’s what has kept my membrane sane.

If you can’t identify Betty in this picture, you need to revaluate your life.

Betty White: I’ve adored Bets since I started watching late-night reruns of “The Golden Girls” a decade ago. The theme song is my ringtone AND I have a koozie of these women, for fuck’s sake. Magz gave me “If You Ask Me (And of Course You Won’t)” for my birthday, and I’ve since rekindled my love for the old bag of bones. Thank you for being a friend, indeed.

Food. What? All of the other pictures have captions.

EVOS:One saving grace about this week was today’s lunch, brought to me by the mall food court. I was too lazy (again) to go to the grocery store — get off my back already. After a bit of a wait, the manager gave us $10 gift cards for the inconvenience. That’ll cover one meal, which is just fiiine by me.

Not the boy from gym. But oh, how I wish it were.

Smexy Boy at Gym: OK, “obsession” is a little strong, considering we just met. And by met, I mean that I creepily watched from afar as he stretched it out this morning to the beat of the booming slow jamz. I don’t know if it was an intentional break from the trance/pop/rock mix they normally have on, but I welcomed it with open arms. Bow-chicka-wow-wow.

I actually think Alex is the least tolerable, but how great is this shot?

Real Housewives: From the insane first half of the New York reunion to this week’s hilarious New Jersey ep to the triumphant return of Beverly Hills (thanks, Rachel, for alerting me to the promo!), I am all about the RH empire.

Soon to come: Another band I love, maybe some more Witty in Fitty. I can tell you’re peeing your pants with excitement.
