Had six of these to start
Remember that one time I boozed it up for three days in New Orleans and decided it’d be a good idea to work the Monday afterward? I hate my life.
This weekend was, in a word, incredible.
Beignets at Café du Monde … get in my belly
I traveled to Crescent City (that’s NOLA, in case you didn’t know either) with some close friends from high school for a pre-birthday party. We ate, we drank, we danced, we stumbled … it was the perfect kickoff to what should be my best year yet.
Cucumber Collins: Cheers to that!
From the beignets to the bars to the Bourbon Street boobs and beads, I wouldn’t change a thing. Well, except for the exhaustion I’m still feeling.
Visiting the 9th Ward, where Katrina hit hardest
At least it’s my birthday Wednesday and we get to celebrate America too — I guess.
Today was suuuch a Monday.
I had to work. On Presidents’ Day. And, I lost my badge.
My fists clenched every time my obnoxious cubemate opened his mouth or typed
… or breathed.
I stepped in a “present” from my niece.
Think I’ll follow Alexander’s lead and move to Australia.
It’s the middle of the week again, so here we are … four more obsessions to “Ooh” and “Aah” over:
- someecards: It’s no secret that I love the just-right sayings these cards provide. Something about mixing simple drawings with sarcasm just takes my breath away.
- Suri’s Burn Book: Hollywood’s favorite tot has found her voice, and she’s not afraid to use it. Read her rants on celebs, from royalty to her own mother, and check out her accompanying tweets here.
- Bright Prints: Today is especially gloomy, so I wore my brightest (and only) yellow blouse, and guess what? The day still sucked. At least designs like this keep me distracted from the misery.
- Blue Ivy: The offspring of Jay Z and Beyoncé has arrived, and the Internet is abuzz over this horribly named baby girl. My favorite reaction? Suri’s, of course.
Good luck getting over that hump … I’m planning to make a glass bottle of vino my best friend tonight.
First and foremost, please assist me in wishing my favorite Mom a very happy birthday. Love you much, Magz! Cheers to another year of health and happiness. And without further ado, this week’s pretty little things:
“Maggie May”: Confession: I am slightly biased in this choice, as it reminds me of my momma. But whether it’s the connection to my mom or the easy beat that keeps me relaxed, all I can say is that I simply adore this jam.
Cobalt Blue: This particular shade of blue is absolutely gorgeous and a regular staple in my wardrobe. With dark hair and fair skin, I can always rely on cobalt to make my features work for me. Lucky enough, the wedding I’m in this weekend showcases cobalt bridesmaid dresses that are to die for — and avoid the dreaded “27 Dresses” moment.
Margaritaville: This wedding promises to bring together good friends, good drinks and of course, good music. The bride and groom are avid Buffett fans, and I’ve been enjoying summer sips and music in preparation for a long night of dancing and, did I mention drinks? Wasting away again, indeed. Salud, Charlie and Jen!
Long Weekends: Between Chicago last week and the Labor Day + wedding combo, I’ve had back-to-back shortened workweeks. While I don’t love cramming all of my to-do lists and responsibilities into an abbreviated timeframe, it feels incredible to have five days off in a row (for the first time in more than three years)! I. Dig. It.
This marks my 10th Weekly Obsession post — and the longest commitment to a relationship I’ve made in a long time. Some changes are coming to the WOs shortly, but in the meantime, I hope you’re all enjoying ’em.
